A few weeks ago, I was looking through some old articles from when I first started in the auto responder business and I happened to notice that a couple of years ago Caribou had their Twitter account. It’s interesting because at the time I was pretty much non-professional when it came to social media. All I did was send out links to certain blogs or websites and occasionally invite people to join my RSS feed. Of course I wasn’t going to have a whole blog full of links; that seemed kind of silly. So why did they have a Twitter account?
Because it allows me to attract more clients and customers to my business in a very short period of time. When you’re starting out in the industry, you don’t have a lot of money to invest in advertising or marketing and you have to learn how to manage your own resources. One of the things that I learned is that you have to get out there and meet new people and talk to them. The Internet is a great way to do that, but you have to remember that most people who use the Internet are going to be self-starters. If you can get them to follow you on Twitter then you have already made yourself some sort of connection, even if it’s a very small one.
A couple of the auto responder service providers that I use will send me tweets on the weekends or during major events that they think are going to be interesting for my customers to see. Sometimes I’ll even get tweets about things that other people would be talking about. And sometimes I’ll just get random tweets from no reason at all. But either way, I’m able to take the opportunity to market myself and my company to as many potential clients as possible.
At first I was a little bit worried that these random caribou tweets were going to turn off some of my regular clients because they didn’t seem to understand that they were part of an organized marketing effort. That being said, I’ve actually had quite a few people ask me questions about my caribou Twitter account after they saw how I was tweeting and promoting myself and my business. In fact, one customer recently asked me what my auto responder account was called. She was wondering if I sold caribou steaks, because that’s what I Tweeted about quite frequently.
While the auto-responder service does help me market myself and my company to potential clients, I get a good deal more variety than I could possibly get with the social media platform alone. Sometimes people want to ask me questions, but other times they want to promote themselves or their company, which is where I can help them. It’s all good, though, because I know that most of the people who come to me and read the tweets that I tweet about are doing it because they want to, not because they have to.
So, the answer to the question does caribou have a twitter is yes. If you run a company, you need to make sure that your company has its own account, and that it uses it to keep in touch with the public. It might be a good idea to hire someone to manage your account for you so that you don’t have to constantly be online (which can be hard to do). However, the whole point of having a Twitter account is to use it to interact with the public. If you haven’t signed up for one yet, I would highly recommend that you do so as soon as possible!
